Can I use Kindle Fire Outside USA?

October 19, 2011

in Kindle Fire

Great question!

Yes, you can, but with limited capacity. What you can do:

  • You can everything that a Kindle, Kindle Touch or Kindle Keyboard can do
  • Read and download Kindle ebooks
  • Read PDF files directly, or through conversion. Similar for other documents formats
  • Surf internet over wifi (it doesn’t have 3G capability)
  • Probably be able to use in-built email app
  • Listern to non-DRM music that you can load manually on Kire provided that they support formats like: non-DRM AAC, MP3, MIDI
  • Watch non-DRM movies that you can load manually on Kire provided that they support formats like:OGG, WAV, MP4, VP8

What you can’t do:

  • Can’t download DRM music, movies from Amazon
  • No live streaming of movies or TV shows from Amazon
  • No apps can be downloaded
  • No access to Google App Market (unless someone comes with some hack when Kire is released)
  • Magazine or other subscription not possible
  • Some Kire exclusive content like Children ebooks, cook books, DC comics etc may not be available
