After Amazon announced its new set of Kindles we didn’t hear anything from its competitors like B&N. However, it was well-known at that time that B&N will announce a new Nook Color in the early November. And now we know the announcement is coming on November 7. There are now five different variants of Kindle available on Amazon Kindle Store. While Amazon website has a great details regarding each models, they are not enough to compare the models so easily due to scattered information – little bit here, little bit there. You can Now Opt Out Special Advertisements on Low Cost Kindles

Amazon has enabled an option to remove the in-built advertisements from Kindles those are being sold “with special offers”. For example, you have purchased a new Kindle wifi at $79 with special offer. The ads are shown on the Home screen of the Kindle. They are not shown while you’re reading. However, you have decided to get rid of adds. The only way you can do it by going to “Manage Your Devices” page and unsubscribe from “Special Offers”.

A New War of Tablet eReaders: Is e-Ink About to be Obsolete?

Amazon is going to announce a new tablet on this Wednesday – Kindle Fire. It’s not clear, even though there are some speculations, that a new touch screen e-ink Kindle will also be announced. Kindle Line-up for This Year

AppleInsider reports by refering Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who has detailed three new kindle products that are expected to be announced at Amazon’s media event this Wednesday. These products are:

  • A new 6″ e-ink kindle
  • A new 6″ e-ink kindle with touch screen
  • A 7″ IPS (e-ink and LCD) kindle tablet

How Many Kindles are Sold by Amazon? 8 Million or 8+ Million?

According to Businessweek, Amazon will sell more than 8 million Kindle by the end of this year. This has surpassed the most analysts’ prediction. Some estimates show that Amazon has already sold 3 million more than what was expected.

Analysts at Citigroup, Barclays Capital, BGC Partners LP and ThinkEquity LLC have estimated that Amazon will sell about 5 million Kindles this year. Caris & Co. predicted 4.8 million, while Goldman Sachs Group Inc. projected 4 million to 5 million.
