Steve Jobs has announced that iBook, the ebook reader application for iPad (also coming in iPhone/iPodTouch), will going to support PDF. There will be a separate bookself for PDF so that you can identify them easily. You’ll also be able to download to iBook application any PDF file attached to your email by just clicking it. The vast majority of ebooks are still published in PDF format, and all ebook reader applications struggle to support it.
Additionally the new iBook will support highlight and note-taking features. According to Jobs: “We’ll have it on the iPhone, the iPad, and the iPod touch. What can we do with these together? First, you can purchase and download a book. It will download wirelessly. You can download the same book to all your devices at no extra charge. Buy it on your iPad, download to your iPhone. And iBooks will automatically and wirelessly sync your current place, all your bookmarks, and all your notes.”
