top646 TEHRAN, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) — A top Iranian military commander said on Sunday that Iran’s army is ready to offer medical assistance to people in Gaza, according to the official news agency IRNA.
Iranian army’s Commander Abdolrahim Mousavi made the remarks at a ceremony to honor the students and nurses of AJA (Army of the Islamic Republic) University of Medical Sciences in the capital Tehran.
“We have informed the Iranian authorities and international organizations of our readiness to offer medical assistance (to Palestinian people) in areas near Gaza,” he said.
Last week, Iranian Health Minister Bahram Einollahi voiced his country’s readiness to dispatch volunteer g7bet casino login physicians and nurses to the war-torn Gaza Strip, according to IRIB news agency.
“We are ready to provide (medical) assistance to the people in Gaza,” where hospitals encountered “brutal Israeli attacks,” the minister said.
Hamas and Israel reached an agreement earlier this week on a four-day cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. Under the deal, which entered into force on Friday, Hamas would release at least 50 Israeli captives from Gaza in exchange for some 150 Palestinian detainees held in Israel.
In addition, the truce has enabled the delivery of more aid supplies to the enclave. ■
