Kindle + Nook = Literaty from Sharper Image – An LCD eReader Powered By Kobo

in Other Readers

Literati is a new eReader by Sharper Image. If you look at the picture, you definitely say it’s a hybrid of Kindle & Nook except that the screen is LCD. To me, it looks like a big smartphone like blackberry. No detail on any specification yetexcept that it has 7″ screen (probably no touch, that’s why all the keys), and built-in Wifi. It’ll be powered by Kobo reader. So you would be able to buy ebooks from Borders. The website show some flash videos only. Apparently it will shipped in early October and will be available in over 7,000 stores including Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, JC Penny, Kohl’s and Macys. It comes in two colors: Back and White.

No pricing information yet. If it’s not below $100, no way it can survive. Not sure, how such kind of device replicating others can survive in the market.
