in News,Other Readers

SlashGear got it’s hand on Samsung Galaxy Tab – a 7″ touch screen tablet which runs Android 2.2. According to SlashGear:

The 1024 x 600 touchscreen is bright, colorful and responsive, while the TouchWiz 3.0 UI is familiar for anyone that has used the latest Galaxy S family of smartphones……..Samsung has tweaked various parts of the native Froyo experience to better suit the Tab’s display and form-factor.

The device will have access to official Google Market as well as Samsung’s own Android market. The applications installed:

  • email
  • Calendar
  • 3-megapixel camera
  • Front-facing video camera
  • 3G, Wifi & Bluetooth
  • Kobo reader
  • Zinio reader
  • Press Display

As you can see the device comes with one ebook reader (Kobo), one e-magazine reader (Zinio), and one e-newspaper reader (Press Display). This will make Galaxy Tab one of the best Tablet next to iPad with a lower price tag even tough the price has not been announced. I’m going to say it’s the best ereader, because it’s not. It’s LCD touch screen just like iPad, and we still don’t know the battery life. It can best be described as an iPad alternative. It can serve ereading purpose for casual reader.

It’ll be available in UK towards the end of September.

Here is the link to the press release.

Here is the 8 minute-long video hands-on from SlashGear:
