Tablet or Kindle: What’s Amazon’s Priority?

in Kindle,News

There are some remors floating for some time that Amazon is going to release an Android Tablet soon. The speculation is based on the Amazon’s decision to open android app store.

Recently, ZatzNotFunny reports that Amazon is coming up with android-powered dual screen tablet:

Most notably that it features two displays: e-Ink on one side, color LCD on the other. And he seemed quite clear that this is front and back, versus the stacked displays seen on the original Barnes & Noble Nook or a dual mode screen, à la Pixel Qi. Which sounds pretty far fetched… How thick would the device have to be to support two screens and reasonable battery life? Also, beyond the Nintendo DS line, dual screen devices haven’t fared well. (Anyone remember the Samsung UpStage?

The website reports that it wouldn’t be called Kindle, it’s a tablet. However, if it’s true, then it can be called Kindle Tablet since it has e-Ink screen on one side. But the OS is Android.

To me, this rumor isn’t crediable since it’ll rule out Kindle competitiveness in the ebook market. Such kind devices are already in the market, and they didn’t take off.
