TechCrucnch has blogged about the upcoming Amazon tablet. Amazon is going to announce the device on Wednesday in a press conference in NYC. Amazon has kept the whole thing secret so far, but reporters and bloggers are trying to find more information ahead of the press conference. Here are what we know so far about the tablet:
- The new tablet’s name is Kindle Fire
- It’s 7″ backlit touchscreen device
- Custom built Android
- looks similar to the BlackBerry PlayBook
- designed and built by the same original design manufacturer (ODM), Quanta
- The device will be linked to Amazon’s own Android Appstore, not Google app store
- The device will be capable for streaming videos, TV shows, linked to Amazon’s MP3 service, and Kindle ebook store
- A lot of magazines to be subscribed
- Start shipping the second week of November
