What You Should Know Before You Pre-Order Nook?

in Nook

There are so many, sometimes conflicting reports on nook. Since customers will get the device 4/5 weeks later from now, it’s urget to know what you’re exited about nook, and what not. For sure, nook opens up a new venue for e-books as a whole in such a hot and competitive market since it’s Andriod based and it also supports EPUB. Here are some few thins you should know:

  • Customers may lend out any given title only one time for a total of 14 days and they cannot read it on their own nook while it is lent.
  • You can read the whole ebook in a B&N bookstore as you do for a phycical book. The nook has software that will detect when a consumer walks into a store so that it can push out coupons and other promotions like excerpts from forthcoming books or suggestions for new reading. While in stores, nook owners will be able to read any e-book through streaming software, accoring to NYTimes.
  • It is not clear if you travel outside USA whether you would be able to buy e-books through Wi-Fi due to any geographical restrictions.
  • Even though it’s Andriod-based, B&N didn’t add web browsing capability.
  • You would be able to  download google books over 3G and wi-fi network free of charge.
  • B&N has some plan to bundle hardcover book and e-book sometime soon, according to Teleread.
  • According to Teleread, B&N will announce Andriod programming access for nook -which is really an interesting thing; but no date announced yet.

However, if you want to experience nook before you make a decision you always have an opportunity to go any Barnes & Noble’s store and then decide it. For kindle there is no way you can do that unless your friend has one.
