Where do the apps for Kobo Vox come from?

October 29, 2011

in Kobo

Kobo has started shipping Kobo Vox. The website of the Kobo doesn’t answer all the questions the ereader enthusiasts have in mind. Unlike Amazon, Kobo has partnered with other companies to feed contents except ebooks for Vox. The company has partnered with Zinio for magazines, PressDirect for newspaper, RDIO for music, and GetJar for apps. In a recent post we elaborate what apps come in-built with Vox.

Kobo Vox doesn’t allow access to Google Android Market for apps. You rather have to get apps from GetJar. There are more than 15,000 apps that you can download from GetJar. I don’t have any idea regarding the quality of the apps available there. However, there are a lot of mainstream apps available. It has been reported that you can also install alternative market places such as Amazon App Store, Andappstore, and many others.
